But, yes, Christchurch is in Winter right now. NZ seasons are opposite from the USA. Some of the trees are bare and some have leaves. NZ is a pretty green country. Plenty of rain.
But I’ve known people to vacation there in Winter and still had a great time.. Airfares are the cheapest from USA at this time.
I don’t think all the lakes are all frozen over, it’s not like the cold back east here.

not all the trees are bare no, a lot keep their leaves all year round. also no the lakes aren’t frozen i don’t think any major lakes in NZ ever freeze over, maybe tiny little ones. Its a beautiful place to visit in Winter, the mountains are at their best covered in snow.
