It may be cheaper to take a flight via Australia that via the Americas, but Christchurch (CHC) is an international airport, just small (and friendly-ish).

your flight will be around 24-30hours. It depends on who you fly with and their connenctions…look up a website like http://www.expedia.co.uk and look at flight times. You can break up you flight with a stopoever which is quite good.

Fly AirNZ London to LA or Hong Kong and then Auckland, or Singapore Air (SIA) to Singapore then Auckland or Christchurch. SIA is Air NZ’s major partner. NZ and Singapore have a very close relationship.

Actual flight time is about 25 hours but you have to stopover for at least an hour, the direct non-stop to LONDON was canned a few years ago.

The shortest flight is 24 hours 25 minutes with a 1 hour 55 minute connection in Seoul on Singapore Airlines at us$1769 round trip, including taxes.
