Christchurch has seven formal international relationships:  6 are Sister Cities and the latest is a Friendship City Relationship with economic goals.

Sister cities aim to foster international understanding and friendship, to encourage exchange of education, culture and sport , and to promote tourism and trade.

Christchurch’s sister city relationships are managed by volunteer groups, who are keen to encourage and assist exchanges.

The Wuhan, China (2006) relationship is managed by the city.

At the Halswell Quarry Park in Christchurch, New Zealand you can experience the six sister city gardens with botanical collections and structures from the sister cities.
